Welcome to the Web site for USF MBA 683 E-Business Technology.
Classes meet on Monday evenings at
6:15 in HR 519.
04/15: Why did Kanji characters appear in the class
schedule? Here is what happened:
 |
I prepared the assignment list in PowerPoint and then copied
the assignments to the forms that update the schedule. |
 |
PowerPoint replaced two hyphens with a long dash character,
hex 97. This is an extended character which may be interpreted differently
depending on the character set being used. |
 |
The meta tags in the header for my pages did not explicitly
specify a character set. Consequently the page was displayed in the default
character set. |
 |
Somehow the default character set for the PC in the
classroom was set to Japanese or Shift-JIS. In Shift-JIS, a hex 97 character
(or any character from hex 81-9F or E0-EF) indicates the start of a two-byte
sequence representing a Kanji ideogram. |
04/01:
02/16: The public_html directory of you lab server account
contains an index.html page provided by he.net. Delete this file after you load
your own index.htm page.
Check this page for notes and information.
Thank you.
