Welcome to MBA 659, Internet Business & Marketing
University of San Francisco, McLaren School of Business
Lone Mountain Room 244B

The information here is from the Spring 1999 class.   Information about the Fall class will be added when it becomes available.

News and answers to questions (updated on May 12):

Best projects were from teams 3, 4, 10.  Project papers are here (except for missing papers from teams 6, 7).

Student feedback for 4/21 and 4/28:

All the presentations were awesome. I was very impressed with each business plan. They were all creative and impressive.

A well conducted class. Many of the different ideas presented were as valuable to me as those presentations given by our visiting industry professionals.

Our angels invested (or didn't invest) in the teams pitching business plans as follows:

4/21
Team 7 received 6 checks

4/28
Team 2 received 3 checks
Team 3 received 8 checks
Team 4 received 10 checks

Papers are due 5/5, on paper (no fancy covers) and e-mail.  All non-confidential papers will be added to the Web site.  Please include the client contact information for consulting projects so that I may ask your 'customers' for feedback (this will not impact your grade).

Check out Team 4's prototype for baby.com and Team 1's draft report.

Philip and Alex’s Guide to Web Publishing is now in print and highly recommended, see References for details.

We now have a discussion forum on our Web site.   Click here to register.  After you have registered, click here to go directly to the forum.   Discussion is organized into threads.  Post creates a new top level heading, Reply adds comments to an existing thread.

Grades have been updated to include the 4/07 papers.  These grades do not follow any known scale and none of the teams are failing.   Team totals are here.  The best papers for each class are identified on the class pages.

April 7 class included a great talk by Lance McDaniel of iXL.  Papers are all here (including Team 7) and will be discussed on April 14.

All students are required to comply with the USF policy on Academic Honesty.   Any material that is not your own must be identified as quotes and credited.

March 31 papers are here and the American Express presentation.  A big thank you to Susan Griffin and Pat Reed for their presentation.

March 24 paper are here.  Many thanks to Bob Yakominich of CitySearch for a great presentation.

March 10 papers are here including Tony Wasserman's slides.  A big 'thank you' to Tony Wasserman of Software Methods & Tools for his presentation.

In the business briefs, I want your analysis of the ways that companies use the Internet and how this changes the business and marketing.   Think about the economic impact of the Internet on costs and income.  Compare and contrast companies using summary tables and charts.  Look for patterns.  Identify what's working, what's not working, missed opportunities, and what you think management should do.

More References have been added in the Technology, Security and Web Design sections.

File names for your business and technical briefs.  Please use the following convention for Word and PowerPoint:

B for Business

Due data in the form MMDD-

Group number in two digits

For example, B0203-06.doc and B0203-06.ppt for a business brief due February 3 by team 6.
